The last of the North swells are passing through, the surf season is coming to an end, the calmer conditions mean the Easter bunny has had safe passage throughout the islands, and the diving conditions are looking great.

On the 21st March, Mickael, Gina and David represented Sail Caribbean Divers at the inaugural BVI Tag Team Surf Competition.  It was a great day at Josiah’s Bay. We thank everyone who helped us raise over $200 for VISAR.  After winning our first heat, the waves increased in size and we didn’t fare so well in the Semi-Final.

Throughout March and the beginning of April, eighty Discover Divers experienced Scuba for the first time, eight new Open Water divers received their certifications, 3 divers completed their Advanced Open Water and Matt Snider became our most recent PADI Divemaster.  And most recently eleven 8 year olds took their first underwater breaths in the PADI Bubblemaker program.

The countdown to the May IDC (Instructor Development Course) has begun at Sail Caribbean Divers.  Eight candidates will join PADI Course Director Mike Rowe to take the next step in their dive careers.  We look forward to welcoming them to the BVI and wish them all the best for their exams.

Out on the dive boats the Rhone was at its mysterious best with two night dives recently – an Octopus crawling over the diver’s fins in the propeller swim through was the biggest highlight.

Cruise Ship traffic is starting to slow, as the ships make their passage back over the Atlantic for the Mediterranean summer.  Our focus now turns to the Sail Caribbean summer program.  Teenagers will be arriving at the beginning of June and will set sail on a marine biology, diving and team building adventures, throughout the British Virgin Islands.

We look forward to seeing you on board soon.
